Faced with budget shortages, the United States Coast Guard has requested the United States Power Squadrons to assist with US Coast Guard boating inspections which are conducted by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliaries.
Members of the Cape
Lookout Sail and Power Squadron have undergone Coast Guard training and have
been officially certified as U.S. Coast Guard Inspectors. For the safety
of all boaters, every boat should be inspected. Upon successful
inspection, your boat will be issued a "Vessel Safety Check" decal to be applied
to your boat. The inspection takes about 3o minutes and covers all the
equipment necessary for "safe boating".

For more information on the inspection, it is suggested that you check the Coast Guard Safety Requirements (http://SafetySeal.net) before you have your boat inspected.
A message from the Cape Lookout Sail and Power Squadron:
"For your convenience as a boater, you may contact me to arrange for a Safety Check which can be done at your home if your vessel is on a trailer or on the water in the boat slip. We have 11 certified US Coast Guard examiners available."
