River Bend is very pleased to have Police Officer
Jeff Casassa as a member of the Police Department. In addition to his
duties in River Bend, Jeff is also Probation/Parole Officer for State of North
Carolina and President of the Fraternal Order of Police.
.
If that is not enough, Jeff is Assistant Coordinator for "Crime
Stoppers". a weekly TV show sponsored by the North Carolina Probation
and Parole Agency. Weekly, Jeff produces the pictures and profiles of the
"10 Most Wanted Probation/Parole Violators" which are also published in the
Sun Journal in Monday's edition..
The mission of
the show is to recover probation/parole violators. "Crime Stoppers" will
pay a reward up to $1000 for information leading to the whereabouts and arrest
of probation/parole violators listed. The phone number to call is
633-5141.
How does one violate probation/parole?
you may ask. Most frequently, those convicted of minor offenses are put on
"probation." This means they are not put in prison at taxpayer expense but
are allowed to go home and take care of themselves. However, there is a
condition. Those on probation/arole must check in with the
Probation/Parole Officer regularly to keep the officer informed as his
whereabouts. Quite often however, the person will move without permission
and neglect to make further reports to his Probation/Parole Officer. The
Probation/Parole Officer must then begin a search for the violator and arrest
him for "probation/parole violation". Since the "Crime Stoppers" program
began, 137 probation/parole violators have been recovered.
